Skyrim is a massive world, filled with unordinary creatures and alien beasts, full of adventurers and warriors who seek glory. Skyrim actually has the perfect fantasy setting for effective and enjoyable roleplaying. What is roleplaying though and how to do it correctly?? Well, roleplaying is the way of playing a game while pretending you are the in-game character. You try to behave like you do in real life. The goal of roleplaying is to give immersion to the game, and make the player feel like he would in reality, in order to have the best possible gaming experience. Roleplaying isn't nice if you don't know how to do it correctly.
The basic rule of roleplaying it "Behave like you would in real life" However that's too general and behaving like you would in real life is impossible as your life isn't threatened if you are being killed in-game, you don't feel hunger in-game and lastly the graphics of a game can't be like reality.
The 20 rules of roleplaying
1. Know who you are and plan your character. For example if you want to be a fierce and strong orc warrior make your character look strong and apply him some war paint to increase his dread.
2.Eat. Skyrim is filled with all kinds of food. Pretend you are hungry and eat once in a while. Instead of pretending you need food you can download a mod that forces you to eat in order not to lose health and die. Just google this "Skyrim Hunger Mod"(Google Link Here)
3.Drink. Drink water or download a mod that forces you to do so.(Google Link Here)
4.Sleep. You should sleep at night or download a mod that forces you to do so.(Google Link Here)
5.Don't always run. In real life you don't run wherever you go so that's what you should do in Skyrim. Try to run when necessary.
6.Don't fast travel it ruins the immersion. Or download a mod that disables fast travel.(Google Link Here)
7.Rest after fights. It isnt normal to keep running after a five minute fight. Take a break and rest.
8.Wear clothes at cities. That's what you should do in real life.
9.Give your character a personality, decide what he likes and what not, your character should like some food and dislike other.
10.Remove the screen interface (health, staming, magicka) or download a mod that does that.(Google Link Here)
11.Don't carry a lot of things with you, especially things that you wouldn't carry in real life, like 20 daggers, or 4 warhamers, or even 5 pieces of armor.
12. Give your character a good name that fits the lore
13.Read books.
14.Marry....and don't harm your wife
15.When you kill someone don't just leave him unless it's necessary. You can carry him somewhere and place his sword next to him or if you are close to the sea drop him in the water and let him float.
16.Change the games timescale to make days and nights last longer. Open the console and type settimescaleto 8 (You can type any number you want but 8 is recomended, if you want much more immersion type 1 to make a whole day and night last 24 hours.)...only on pc.
17. Use followers and take care of them. Don't let them die.
18.Don't rush through quests.
19. When travelling rest and stare at the landscape, you can also hunt and if you want download a mod that gives you the ability to camp.(Google Link Here)
20. Take supplies whenever you leave the city or village.
The Game Graphics
Assuming you 've got a good gaming rig you can enhance your roleplaying experience by installing mods that improve graphics.
The most basic mods that improve graphics are...
SKYRIM HD
Download Skyrim HD here
ENB SERIES
Download ENB here
FLORA OVERHAUL
Download Flora Overhaul here
Skyrim should be close to photorealistic after you install these mods. Check my list of graphics mods here. If you like any of them click on the links. My game looks very photorealistic with all these installed and in some scenes the game looks like a movie, very photorealistic indeed!
You can also change the ini. settings of Skyrim to make it look even better. Nvidia has made good guides on how to do that. Here are the links of the guides. They helped me a LOT.
GUIDE 1 (Better but very longer than the other guide.)
GUIDE 2 (5 fast Skyrim tweaks guaranteed to make your game look better.)
Good beginners guide to roleplaying in skyrim, especially helpful as you provide links to mods in order to enhance the experience good work :)
ReplyDeleteIt's taken me some practice to train myself to not break character while role playing. Many quest rewards are tempting items, and it's easy to forget for a moment how your character feels about, say, siding with a Daedric prince for a badass sword. Or delivering someone's Frost Salts 100 miles, even if you know you'll make big gold on it.
ReplyDelete"Theory of mind is the ability to attribute mental states—beliefs, intents, desires, pretending, knowledge, etc.—to oneself and others and to understand that others have beliefs, desires, and intentions that are different from one's own" - Wikipedia.
